TEHRAN -- Mehdi Ghabraii’s Persian translation of Khaled Hosseini’s smash hit novel “A Thousand Splendid Suns” has recently been published by Sales Publications.

The Afghan US-based writer Hosseini, in this most recent of his works, has entered a new genre and is no longer depicting people at the extremities of the spectrum of goodness and badness”, Ghabraii noted in the preface of the book.
The title of the book has been taken from a poem by the 17th century Persian poet Saeb-e Tabriz.
It is a tale of two generations of characters brought jarringly together by the tragic sweep of war in Afghanistan, where personal lives are inextricable from the history playing out around them, Khaled Hosseini explained.
Khaled Hosseini’s previous novel, the “Kite Runner”, was also a best seller in 2003 and has been translated into Persian by Ghabraii and others
